On August 29th, 2009, Michael Jackson fans in Seoul, Korea gathered in various locations in the city to spontaneously perform the dance to "Beat It" (one of my favorite songs). In the video you can see two of the flash mobs that occurred in GwangHwaMun.

Frankfurt am Main - Die umstrittenen Äußerungen des US-Schauspielers auf einem Video seien "schändlich fehlinterpretiert" worden, erklärte Scientology in Los Angeles am Montag in einer Pressemitteilung. Jeder, der Cruise kenne, wisse, dass dieser frei von Vorurteilen sei und Angehörige anderer Religionen oder Hautfarben nicht diskriminiere.

Mit ihrer Stellungnahme reagierte die Organisation auf harsche Kritik aus Deutschland. Der ZDF-Historiker Guido Knopp und der Sekten-Experte Thomas Gandow hatten Cruise in der "Bild am Sonntag" auf der Grundlage einer Rede des bekennenden Scientologen, die in einem im Internet veröffentlichten Video zu sehen ist, mit Hitlers Propaganda-Minister Joseph Goebbels verglichen. Ihr Urteil: Die Rede erinnere an Goebbels' berüchtigte Sportpalast-Rede.

Cruise ruft in dem Film vor Scientology-Mitgliedern: "Should we clean this place up?" (Übersetzung der "Bild": "Sollen wir die Welt säubern?)". Darauf erwidert die Menge: "Ja!". Goebbels hatte am 18. Februar 1943 im Berliner Sportpalast gerufen: "Wollt ihr den totalen Krieg?", was von begeisterten NS-Anhängern mit "Ja!" beantwortet worden war. Knopp warf die Frage auf, "ob Cruises Stauffenberg-Film, der im Herbst in die Kinos kommen soll, nicht doch in die Scientology-Strategie passt, um über die Person ihres Hauptdarstellers Sympathien für die Sekte zu erzeugen".

Scientology erklärte, dass das Video von einer Veranstaltung stamme, bei der es um humanitäre Projekte gegangen sei. Dazu gehöre eine Kampagne zur Verbreitung der Menschenrechte. Cruise habe sich in der Rede lediglich für einen Preis bedankt, den er für seine Verdienste um die weltweite Alphabetisierung erhalten habe. Und mit seiner umstrittenen Formulierung habe er lediglich andere aufgefordert, sich ähnlich zu engagieren.

Die Organisation wies zudem darauf hin, dass die Allgemeine Erklärung der Menschenrechte ja schließlich eine Folge des Zweiten Weltkriegs und der von Deutschland begangenen Greueltaten gewesen sei - "Greueltaten, die von deutscher Propaganda ermöglicht wurden".

Der Grund für diesen Seitenhieb ist eindeutig: Deutsche Politiker diskutieren immer wieder über ein Verbot von Scientology. Die Organisation ist im Unterschied zu den USA nicht als Kirche anerkannt. Die Innenminister von Bund und Ländern erklärten im Dezember vergangenen Jahres, Scientology sei eine nicht mit der Verfassung vereinbare Organisation. Sie beauftragten den Verfassungsschutz, alle Informationen zu sammeln, die für ein mögliches vereinsrechtliches Ermittlungsverfahren erforderlich sind.

Featured as 9th track on Dig Out Your Soul, Liam Gallagher were inspired by his spell behind bars in Münich, Germany after a bar brawl. He, drummer Alan White and three members of the contentious bands crew were arrested after a vicious punch-up at the Bayerischer Hof hotel with local gangsters. Liam lost two front teeth. The Oasis lads were charged with assault-related offences. However people blame Oasis for starting the fight, which isn't true according to Liam the composer. I tried in return to visualize, bring out or somehow capture the furiousity borned out of untrue and unfair accusations, as the time Michael Jackson spent with such.

There were a few genial ideas here I loved to turn real although I did not completely nailed everything, like the ending. I had lots of pressure to finish this and make it right, and you got quite a technical prestation here in terms of video editing.
The first 1½ minute of this song you see Michael perform the bar brawl in You Rock My World and there's the choreography. When the fire consumes the place there's glass smashed in the middle and you'll experience a mad psychedelic mess of
Smooth Criminal rest of the movie. The tense atmosphere and violence is featured in both films merged into one, the first featured film is all about building up anger to the outburst of psychedelic madness that is in the second film and it just ends with a gunshot. Apart from additional sound effects I mixed the album version of the song with the demo version, so if you don't appreciate the visual content you can always listen to this hybrid recording (along with SFX explosions and windows breaking).

Footnote -
The main reason I have three videos of this kind on my youtube channel is to celebrate Michael Jackson or Oasis in this artistic way as a big fan.
The first one, Bag It Up, came online shortly after the release of Dig Out Your Soul, and worked as a tribute to the new Oasis album. The second one was a follow-up derived from the same editing project but instead, celebrated the announcement of Michael Jackson's comeback in form of the "This Is It" concert. And this, which is the third and last one of my personal tributes, turned out to be not only a response to Michael Jackson's death and (51st) birthday, but also an expression of my own feelings at that time and the Oasis split up which coincidentely occured at the same point. (and yes I have recorded other music videos but there's no point sharing them anymore)
